The CoDOA funding model allows Swiss academic libraries and research funders to support high-quality Diamond Open Access journals through a coordinated national initiative. Rather than negotiating individual funding arrangements, institutions can choose from a curated portfolio of eligible journals and pledge support according to their own priorities and available budget.
How participation works
The Consortium of Swiss Academic Libraries will communicate a consortial offer containing eligible journals together with information about their publishing standards and activities as well as their individual annual funding targets on the CoDOA website and via direct e-mail to institutions.
Participating institutions can:
- support individual journals, or
- support the complete portfolio.
Recommended contribution levels take institutional size into account while remaining voluntary. Please note that, for the pilot funding round in 2026, recommended prices are discounted.
Why participate?
By joining the CoDOA funding scheme, institutions help to:
- strengthen scholar-led journals with relevance to Swiss research communities,
- improve the long-term sustainability of Diamond Open Access journals,
- increase diversity within scholarly communication,
contribute to a fair and open research ecosystem.
